Rooted in African American culture and over a century old, Lindy Hop is a joyful partner dance danced to upbeat jazz, blues, and swing music. Classes at BOH Studios focus on learning through movement, musicality, and connection, not rigid routines.

What Is Lindy Hop & Swing Dance?

Lindy Hop is the original Swing dance, born in Harlem in the late 1920s and 1930s. It’s energetic, improvisational, and deeply connected to jazz music. Unlike fixed choreography, Lindy Hop is about responding in real time to your partner, the music, and the moment.

Swing dance classes often include:

  • Partner dancing with clear lead & follow principles

  • Rhythms such as six-count, eight-count, and Charleston

  • Improvisation and playful musical expression

  • Solo jazz elements that add style and individuality

At BOH Studios, Swing dance is taught in a way that’s accessible, welcoming, and fun, while staying true to the authentic roots of the dance.
