Our approach

Understand the movement. Enjoy the dance.

Our teaching is influenced by our training in the Esencia Method, with strong traditional and modern bachata foundations. Explore timing, connection, leading and following, body mechanics and musicality—then put them into practice through enjoyable combinations, routines and creative partnerwork.

You’ll learn why movements work and how to adapt them to different partners and music. There is space to ask questions, experiment and progress at your own pace.

Before your first visit

Your questions, answered.

Do I need a partner or any experience?

No partner or previous dance experience is needed for Level 0/1. Come on your own or with a friend. Partners rotate, and you can stay with your own partner if you prefer.

Which class should I choose?

Start with Level 0/1 if you are new to bachata or want to strengthen your basics. Level 1/2 is for dancers comfortable with basic steps, timing and partnerwork. Ask your teacher if you are unsure.

How do combined levels work?

Each session is one shared class, with variations and technical challenges to suit different stages of learning. Level 0/1 combines first foundations with beginner development. Level 1/2 develops technique, partnerwork and intermediate concepts.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move and turn in. Bring water. Specialist dance shoes are not required for your first class.

How much are classes?

Level 0/1 costs £9 online or £10 on the door. The 90-minute Level 1/2 class is £12 online or £13 on the door. Both classes on the same evening cost £15 online or £16 on the door. Wednesday class tickets include the Wednesday social.

When is the social?

Wednesday, 9:30–11pm, in the Event Space. Practise what you have learned, meet other dancers and enjoy the music. Contact BOH for social-only entry details. There is no scheduled Monday social.

Are there Friday classes?

Regular Friday classes finish when the new programme starts on 2 November 2026. BOH-Chata Fridays becomes a monthly party series with individually announced dates, artists and tickets—not an event every Friday.

Is Level 3 available weekly?

No. Level 3 describes our advanced progression pathway. Workshops, intensives and advanced training will be announced separately when available.

How does membership work?

Membership remains £50 per month. From 2 November it covers the regular Monday and Wednesday programme, including the Wednesday social. Special events have separate booking arrangements.
